VFD Quickly Extinguishes Bus Fire

VFD continued their busy afternoon as the department was dispatched to a bus fire. First arriving units confirmed the active bus fire. An attack line was deployed from E84. Crews quickly extinguished the fire. There were no students onboard and no injuries. Grasslands Road was shut while crews operated. Once the vehicle was removed, the roadway was reopened.... Two Car MVA Shuts Down BRP

This afternoon VFD, VVAC, and Mt Pleasant Medic were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with extrication on the Bronx River Parkway at Virginia Road. Crews located the accident with one vehicle off the roadway. Crews assisted the driver out of the vehicle and transferred to EMS. Members also applied speedy dry to the fluid spill. VFD Assists Tarrytown at Structure Fire

This morning, Engine 84 was requested to relocate to Tarrytown's Riverside Hose #4 station to cover Tarrytown while they operated at a structure fire. The crew from Engine 84 stood by with a ladder from Nyack. Standby companies were then moved up to the scene to assist with overhaul. Crews assisted with the prolonged overhaul and hitting hot spots. VFD and Elmsford FDs Respond to MVA on Sprain

On Saturday Morning, VFD along with Elmsford FD, Valhalla VAC, and Mt Pleasant Medic were dispatched to an MVA on the Sprain Brook Parkway North of Grasslands Road. Units located the vehicle in the center median underneath the guardrail. Crews secured power to the vehicle while EMS tended to the patient. VFD & TFD Standby at Westlake HS Fireworks

Members of the department along with Thornwood FD stood by during the Westlake High School’s Homecoming football game. Fans were treated to a halftime fireworks display. The fireworks went off without a hitch and the Wildcats won!... (Full Story & Photos)
